bursting suitcase

Hey, folks! See the person above, trying to squeeze the entire contents of her wardrobe into her suitcase – this is me! Well, it’s not ‘actually’ me,  but you know what I mean!

Where are you going? I hear you ask…

I’m off to Turkey!

Nope, not that Turkey! I’m off to the land of Shish Kebab’s and … errr… Shish Kebab’s!

Wait! Before you start the conga celebrations.

Don’t get too excited! This means….

Dun Dun Dun!

I will be taking a brief break from the blogging world. Yep, that’s right, NO INTERNET! Sadly, this means that I won’t be able to read any of your wonderful blogs…

But I promise I’ll catch up with you all once I’m back!

I was originally planning to take my children to Turkey, but then I did a few calculations…

3 children + 1 mother + 5 hour plane journey + no cupboard to rock to and fro in = 1 frazzled mother ready to jump out of the fire escape!

And then my mother-in-law offered to come along and help out with the children…

So, I did some more calculations…

3 children + 1 mother + 1 monster mother-in-law + 5 hour plane journey + no cupboard to rock to and fro in = 1 Parachuting mother!

Just for the record, I wouldn’t really open a fire escape, I was only ‘hypothetically’ speaking… Please don’t call the police!

I then looked at the ticket prices for the Easter break and pretty much had the following reaction…

After picking myself off of the floor, I took all calculations into consideration and decided to be brave and travel ALONE. Why brave?

As some of you know, my last solo flight was a complete DISASTER. *Coughs* Geneva!

In fact, I’m surprised it didn’t put me off for life! Shockingly I’m back, with a suitcase fit to burst and a sombrero ready to protect my prone-to-burn nose from the sun!

I can’t wait to see my husband again, it has been faaaaaar too long! I can’t tell you how excited I am to share some ‘alone’ time with him, too. I don’t think I need to tell you what we’ll be getting up to *Winky face*. Originally we had planned to meet in Istanbul, but having lived there for the past 3 months and pretty much loathed every minute of it, my husband suggested we stay somewhere where we are less likely to be knocked down by a crazy taxi driver.

Therefore, we are heading to Bodrum, a port city in Muğla Province, in the southwestern Aegean Region of Turkey <- Yes, I just Wikipedia’d that!

We will be staying at the Zest Exclusive Hotel for a few days…

Then we’ll be taking a road trip to Kas, Turkey (a small fishing, diving, yachting and tourist town)

For my husband’s birthday, I will be taking him deep sea diving! Hopefully, we won’t have a run in with a shark (or any other sharp-toothed sea creature for that matter.) I’m pretty confident that I’ll come back in one piece and not minus a toe!

Other than diving, we will be mostly relaxing. It won’t be overly hot (around 20 degrees or so!) not exactly bikini and flip-flops weather, but ideal for hand-in-hand walks along the beach.

Before I leave for those sunny horizons, I decided I’d have a little blog spring clean, you know, to freshen things up a little. Notice anything different? Okay, perhaps it’s not a major change but whoever spots the difference will get a special prize (to be revealed at the end of this post.)

Also… It took me ages – because I really dislike change – but I have FINALLY (note the capital letters!) updated my ‘about page’ – as much as I would have loved to cling onto my 27 years, I realised that time has moved on, my life has moved and, therefore, an update was very much needed – I hope you like it!

But wait! Before I leap onto that plane…

THANK YOU, Everyone!

I would just like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who took the time to read my previous post. As some of you know, I was extremely anxious to share my story so openly and honestly. I feared I would be scrutinised or worse still, judged. How wrong I was! Through a sea of doubt and apprehension, I felt the fear and did it anyway – I posted my story for all to see….and then I frantically questioned whether I did the right thing or not. It didn’t take long before the messages of support and encouragement came pouring in. I was so overwhelmed by all of your messages I had to take myself off and cry a little…okay, okay… A lot! The truth is, for the first time in …well… since I can remember, I felt free. Truly free! I could finally ‘let go’ of my past and move on with my life. I really couldn’t have achieved this without all of your support – I mean this from the bottom of my heart. I already knew you guys were awesome, but this has really opened my eyes to what a truly amazing blogging community I have here on WP. A community who continues to throw it’s loving arms around me and remind me that I’m not alone in this big old world. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for you all. I love you guys! <3

Now, before I use up an entire box of Kleenex, I better move on…

For those of you who didn’t notice, it was, in fact, my ‘header image’ that has changed.

And so the conveyor belt of surprises begins to turn…
