One Big Fat Award Ceremony

Ladies, pull on those sparkling dresses. Gentlemen, straighten those dickie bow-ties! That’s right….It’s time for MY BIG FAT AWARD CEREMONY! It’s a little like a Greek wedding, but without the plate smashing…and bride…and groom…and bridesmaids….and best-man…Okay, okay…It’s nothing like a Greek wedding! However, there WILL be dancing, and there WILL be copious amounts of imaginary champagne! Pull out a chair and make yourselves comfortable (*whispers* This is going to be a long night!) it’s time to start the Awards.

*Melodramatic music fills the room*

So without further ado, I bring you the first award….

7 Random Facts About Moi …

1: My first ever pet was a hamster called Roger (I was a fan of the movie Who framed Roger Rabbit, at the time) He was a highly skilled escape artist, but unfortunately, the last time he managed to gnaw his way out of his cage, he ran straight into the mouth of my mum’s cat. Needless to say, he didn’t quite make it! *sniff sniff*

2: Many moons ago, my mother unwittingly named her cat after a *Cough* …Erm, how can I put this…a nickname term for the female genitalia (I’ll leave you to work that one out!) I didn’t realise this until I grew up and learned what exactly it meant… I was then mortified when my mum continued to SHOUT it out across the streets of our neighbourhood! “******* ,*******, Come and get your din dins!”

3; Although I was a teenage terror, my mum still believes that I was angelic. She even brags to her friends about how she had it so easy when I was growing up. Little did she know how BAD ASS I really was!

bad ass

4; I first met my husband in a nightclub called Dellers! (Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? *Sarcastic face*) Initially I assumed he was gay, and I just so happened to be searching for a gay best friend (GBF!) at the time. When I caught sight of him on the dance-floor, throwing some rather questionable shapes in a white ‘wife-beater’ vest, I thought I had struck lucky! Turns out I DID strike lucky, but not in the way I had envisaged. We have been together for coming up 9 years, married for 4 and have 3 wonderful children. A fairytale ending, some might say!

5: I was painfully shy in school. I would literally hide behind my friend, quivering in fear of anyone striking conversation with me. It took me years to finally crack out that shell, but yet, I can’t say I enjoyed those school days very much!

6: I dream every SINGLE night. I once had a bizarre dream that I was eating onion rings on a king-sized bed with Miley Cyrus for her 21st birthday…Yes! Very rockstar! I’m sure she’d trade the Hollywood party scene for a night on the onion rings, anytime! Another strange dream involved me biting off my mother’s finger, and then searching for it on the floor. I was relieved to wake up and find my mum still had all her fingers intact.

7; When I was little I wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. Unfortunately, the nursing career never happened due to my fainting at the drop of blood.

These are my lovely nominee’s, now all you need to do is read the rules and pass it on! (Only if you want to. There’s no pressure!)

 So, what are the rules?

The rules:

1. Nominate 12 blogs which inspire you and will, without a doubt, inspire others.

2. Display the award logo on your blog.

3. Answer the eleven questions provided by the nominator.

4. Notify your nominee.

5. Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog in your post.

Questions for nominee’s

1; How would you describe yourself?

2; If your life were a movie, who would play you?

3; Can you remember your last dream?

4; If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

5; Describe your ideal day

6; What was your first pet?

7; If you could eat one thing for a month, what would it be?

8; If you could have one super power, what would it be?

9; What are your favorite pizza toppings?

10; Are you a morning or night person?

11; How do you want people to remember you when you’re gone?

My Questions & Answers

1; When was the happiest moment of your life? When I held all three of my children in my arms for the very first time. Nothing could ever beat that feeling.

2; Are we becoming too dependent on technology? Considering I have just waved goodbye to Facebook, I would say NO.

3; Do you believe in ghosts and what experiences have you encountered ? Having lived in a haunted house, I do believe there’s something out there… whether it’s a ghost or not, I’m not sure. During my spooky 6 months living in a renovated old pub, I saw objects fly across the room, dark figures and heard whispers by my bedside. A fragment of my imagination? Perhaps! Creepily, as soon as I left the house I didn’t experience any more strange goings on.

4; What’s your favourite Season and why? Summer, everything is better when the sun is out!

5; What’s your favourite thing about blogging? Making connections with people.

6; Do you prefer a cosy night in or a wild night out? If you would have asked me that 5 years ago, I would have said a wild night out. As I approach my …dare I say it… late twenties, a cosy night in with my granny slippers and horlicks sounds far more appealing!

7;  If you were an animal, what would you be and why? A sloth, so I could sleep all day.

8; Which job would you never do? I might get shot for this… *Hides under blanket* but I could never work with children. I love my children dearly, but I don’t think I’ve got it in me to work with other peoples children. It might just push me to the brink of insanity!

9; How many hours do you need to sleep each night to function optimally? About 10. What can I say…I love to sleep!

10; What’s your guilty pleasure? I have two guilty pleasures. The first one is people watching, and the 2nd is watching Made in Chelsea… Don’t tell my husband  I watch such drivel, he might disown me!

11; Did you ever go through a stage of desperation in your life? If you did, then how did you get past that time? Yes, I derailed for many years (I wont go into the details) but one day I woke up and very sternly said to myself “Pull yourself together, you’re pathetic!” and sure enough, I begun to make positive changes to my life. It wasn’t an easy process, but it was worth it!

 The speech

(Because every Awards Ceremony needs a speech!)

*Drunkenly stumbles onto the stage and grabs the mic*

*TAP TAP TAP*  Is anyone there?

For those of you who haven’t fallen asleep, or sneakily snuck out while no one was looking, I just wanted to say a BIG thank you…well…for firstly, sticking with me through this tediously long award ceremony, and secondly, to not only the people who have kindly given me these awards, but to EVERYONE who has supported me through my blogging journey. Cor! That sounded a bit hippy, didn’t it? This big fat award ceremony wasn’t about me and my awards, it was about showing my respects to some of the very talented people who have inspired me along the way. Sorry to those I couldn’t give awards to. I follow thousands of blogs and sooooo many of you have inspired me and are equally as deserving of these awards. Fear not! I’m sure they’ll be more award ceremonies to come!

facebook nooooo

Lastly, I would like to apologise for the long delay in getting this award ceremony together. Some of you gave me these awards *cough* months and months ago! I could give you a bag of excuses, but I won’t… It was just me being a big lazy sloth! Thank you, thank you and thank you. Before I get booed and hissed off the stage, I’ll quickly say my goodbyes and make a run for it. *Runs off stage with hands over head*

awards sobbing

Okay, Okay…Calm down. It wasn’t that emotional!

23 awards, a spot of drunken dancing and enough imaginary champagne to sink a ship… and our evening finally draws to an end. It’s been emotional guys, but it’s time to clink our glasses one more time and let those curtains fall.
